Dr. Leonie Brolund

Dentist

After graduation, the first station of my dentistry studies was the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, known for its first-class education in dentistry. There, I completed my pre-clinical semesters and then, after graduating in physics, moved on to the University of Kiel, where my grandfather had already studied dentistry and gained his doctorate. At this faculty, too, I was able to acquire knowledge of dental medicine according to latest scientific findings. Following my state examination, I worked as a dentist in two dental practices in Kiel, specialising in high-quality prosthetics (dentures), endodontics (root canal treatment), implantology and aesthetic dentistry.

Already during my studies, I started with my doctoral thesis at the Institute of Pharmacology at the University of Kiel and completed it with the grade “Magna cum laude” in the year after my exam.

It was the proximity to the sea, to shipping and to my family that led me back to Hamburg as a native of Flensburg and a Hamburg citizen by choice. My little daughters continue the tradition of my family and were born as real “Hanseatics” in Hamburg. I opted for self-employment and took over the long-standing practice of my colleague Dr Rilling in the heart of Nienstedten close to the Elbe.

There, I work with tooth-friendly methods according to the latest scientific findings and place emphasis on individual care and passing on knowledge to my patients. I continue to educate myself in all areas of dentistry and am particularly interested in periodontics, craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) and prosthetics. I specialise in these areas with a distinctive feature being that I apply them using state-of-the-art techniques. If possible, I work with the computer-aided CEREC scanner, which enables me to produce patient-specific all-ceramic restorations in just one session. I place highest demands on the premium-quality dental prosthesis that I create in cooperation with Hamburg-based laboratories.
